Responsible Play
play4sats — Responsible Play
1. What we are trying to do
Playing on play4sats is a skill competition. We want it to stay something you enjoy and can walk away from, and we would rather lose a player than keep one who is not enjoying it.
Competing for real money can still get its hooks in, whether or not chance is involved. This page says what the platform does about that, and — just as plainly — what it does not do.
2. Skill, not chance
Every match gives both players the identical starting position, generated from the same seed. You play it, your opponent plays it, and the higher score wins. Nothing is drawn against you and no house plays against you.
That is not a promise that you will win. A better player will beat you, and the entry fee is gone when they do.
3. You must be 18 to play for money
Free play is open to anyone. Paid matches are for players aged 18 or over, and you have to confirm your age before your first one. If you share a device with a child, use the parental controls built into the device or the browser. We do not knowingly let a minor pay to play, and an account we find to belong to one will be closed.
4. What the platform does by design
Some of the usual protections do not apply here, because there is nothing for them to apply to.
- There is no balance. You never deposit and you never hold money with us. Every match is a separate payment you make from your own wallet, and you have to confirm it there. Nothing can drain a balance while you are not looking, because there is no balance.
- The stakes start small and open slowly. In each game only the $1 tier is available until that game has been played a great many times. The higher tiers are not there to be reached in an evening.
- Your whole history is in front of you. Every match, what it cost and how it ended is on your own screens. If you want to know what a week actually cost you, the answer is not hidden.
5. Signs worth noticing
- Playing for longer, or for more, than you meant to.
- Trying to win back what you have lost.
- Playing instead of working, sleeping, or being with people.
- Borrowing to play, or hiding what you have spent.
If two or three of those sound familiar, take a break. It costs nothing. Taking a break is one email away.
Email support@peritusgames.com and ask us to close your account. We'll do it, no questions asked, and no fee either way.
